KS3 English, we teach pupils the skills they need to communicate in ways relevant to their individual needs, developing their skills in communication, reading and writing.
The aim of the ks3 curriculum is to address any gaps in learning the students have, build confidence with English and prepare them for ks4 English qualifications and accreditation.
Students have to opportunity to study two formal qualifications in English at KS4.
GCSE English. Students follow the AQA 9 – 1 GCSE qualification either at foundation or higher level.
Functional skills English. Students are given the opportunity to attain accreditation from Entry level 1 through to level 2 functional skills in English.
The aim of the English curriculum at KS4 is to ensure all students leave with an appropriate accreditation to follow their next steps after Marland and have the skills to deal with adult life.
