Curriculum Overview:
KS3
Students will study a broad spectrum of topics from the six strands of mathematics (Number, Algebra, Geometry, Measurement, Ratio and Statistics).
The aim of the ks3 curriculum is to address any gaps in learning the students have, build confidence with mathematics and prepare them for ks4 mathematic qualifications and accreditation.
KS4
Students have to opportunity to study two formal qualifications in mathematics at KS4.
GCSE mathematics. Students follow the Edexcel 9 – 1 GCSE qualification either at foundation or higher level.
Functional skills mathematics. Students are given the opportunity to attain accreditation from Entry level 1 through to level 2 functional skills in mathematics.
The aim of the mathematics curriculum at KS4 is to ensure all students leave with an appropriate accreditation to follow their next steps after Marland.
