A Sunny Adventure to Lundy Island

A Sunny Adventure to Lundy Island
Pupils from Marland School recently enjoyed a memorable day trip to the beautiful Lundy Island, travelling by ferry in excellent weather both there and back. The journey itself was a highlight, with calm seas and clear skies making it a relaxing and enjoyable experience for everyone on board.
Once on the island, the group set off to explore some of Lundy’s most interesting landmarks. One of the first stops was St Helen’s Church, where pupils had the chance to appreciate both its history and peaceful surroundings. The group then made their way to the Battery, an old cottage where a family once lived and were expected to fire a cannon every five minutes in bad weather to warn ships about the dangers of the island. While visiting, pupils were also delighted to spot puffins perched along the cliffs—a real highlight of the day.
Another memorable visit was to the lighthouse. From the top, pupils were treated to spectacular views of the entire island, as well as distant glimpses of the Welsh, Devon, and Cornish coastlines. It was a fantastic opportunity to take in the natural beauty of the area.
The weather throughout the day was hot and sunny, which meant the group took plenty of breaks to rest, relax, and enjoy the scenery. Although this meant they did a little less than planned, it gave everyone the chance to truly soak in the experience.
Overall, the trip to Lundy Island was a great success. With beautiful weather, interesting sights, and plenty of smiles, it was a day that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
