Curriculum Overview:

Autumn Term

Key Stage 3

At key stage 3, students build on the knowledge and understanding, skills, attributes and values they have acquired and developed during the primary phase. PSHE education teaches the knowledge and skills which will equip them for the opportunities and challenges of life. Students learn to manage diverse relationships, their online lives, and the increasing influence of peers and the media.

For the requirements of Marland School students, all students in KS3 will follow the same units of learning (unless a particular need or trigger point is identified before or during a unit), working on a 2 / 3 year rolling curriculum (depending upon year of entry into KS4 SWEET BTEC programme).

Key Stage 4

At KS4, the students follow an accredited PSHE course called SWEET. The PGW resource is mapped against the English curricula. The resource covers the entire PSHE and RSE specifications. The PGW Programme is flexible and can be delivered through allocated PSHE time, literacy and tutor time, core subjects (including Maths, Science, and PE). The resource is available in two different formats: either as a physical set of workbooks (currently using this) or as an online
