Autumn Term
Key Stage 3
Humanities
Humanities at KS3 is made up of three subjects – Religious Education, History and Geography. The curriculum follows a three year rolling timetable, allowing all students to access a wide range of topics and skills.
Religious Education
This year, KS3 are asking the following key questions:
- Why is there suffering and are there any good solutions?
- How far does it make a difference if you believe in life after death?
We will be considering a range of religious and non-religious perspectives, and developing our skills in expressing our own opinions and sensitively challenging ideas we disagree with.
History
In History, students will be studying an overview of the two world wars to coincide with Remembrance Day, and issues of slavery, with a focus on the sugar trade and the British Empire. We will be practicing empathy skills by imagining what life was like during these turbulent times and developing an appreciation and sensitivity for some challenging topics.
Geography
In Geography students will be asking, “how are populations changing?” and “how is Asia being transformed?”
We will look at facts and figures, photographs and videos to consider how the world around us is changing, and how this may impact on our lives and the environments we live in
