Autumn Term 2025

KS3

In Key stage 3 this term we started by looking at the Number system, which involved developing a better understanding of place value, the number line and rounding numbers. Students then worked on developing their understanding of different types of numbers, factors, multiples, and Primes and progressing on Powers and Roots.

We then moved onto looking at Risk and Chance, through this unit students developed their understanding of the “likelihood” or single and then multiple events happening.

We finished the first term by looking at calculations, and using the four operations to calculate with whole integers, decimals, negative numbers, and fractions.

KS4

In Key stage 4 we have been focussing on building confidence and understanding of key mathematical skills and applying these to assessment style questions from GCSE and functional skills exams.

We have particularly focussed on the number system, building our confidence with rounding numbers to decimal places and significant figures and looking at factors and multiples of increasingly large numbers.

We moved on to Risk and Chance, this involved developing an understanding of probability and the likelihood of events happening. This gave us a chance to practice our understanding of working with decimals, fractions, and percentages.
